About the Market Garden

Market Garden Filderstadt – Regenerative Agriculture

Market Garden Filderstadt

Sustainable vegetable growing with heart, handwork, and respect for the soil.

Our Mission

“We work with nature – not against it.
In our market garden, we trust and foster natural processes,
pay attention to every detail, and take responsibility for our environment.”

Responsibility & Solidarity

We take responsibility for our region and act in solidarity with others.
For us, agriculture means preserving the foundations of life – together, not against each other.

Responsibility & Solidarity

Naturalness & Trust

Naturalness & Trust

We show that food production can be different: small-scale, regenerative, and economically stable.
We trust the forces of nature. No giant tractors, no chemicals – but handwork, compost, and patience.
This way, soils come to life and can sustain generations.

What is a Market Garden

What is a Market Garden?

A market garden is a small-scale, regenerative vegetable-growing operation.
Instead of relying on large fields and heavy machinery, the focus is on
handwork, biodiversity, and living soils.
Through biointensive cultivation on small plots, fresh, regional vegetables and humus-rich soils are created
that store water, bind carbon, and support life.

This “comeback of small-scale farming” has been beautifully described by our colleagues at the
GRAND GARDEN in Austria –
see their detailed explanation of the
market gardening concept here.

Why it matters

Why It Matters

Market gardens demonstrate that a future-proof agriculture
is not based on growth, but on quality, care, and local cycles.
Through composting, mixed cropping, and permanent soil cover,
humus builds up and soil life flourishes.
This creates farming that protects the climate, fosters biodiversity,
and nourishes people – without destroying the foundations of life.

Work through the seasons

Through the Seasons

From the first seed in spring to the last harvest in autumn,
handwork accompanies every step.
Over 40 different crops grow seasonally, without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.
This diversity protects the soil, supports pollinators,
and provides fresh, nutrient-rich vegetables directly from the region.

Short supply chains, direct contact with customers,
and daily work with the earth foster connection, responsibility, and appreciation.
Every season is a cycle, a learning process,
and an expression of a living partnership between humans and soil.

In Practice

What defines our work: living regeneration – visible, tangible, and edible.

Soil care and compost work

Soil Care

The soil is our most precious asset. Through compost, mulch, and gentle cultivation,
we promote humus formation and soil life – the foundation of healthy plants.

Crop diversity

Diversity

Over 40 seasonal crops, flowering strips, cover crops, and mixed plantings –
diversity strengthens resilience, biodiversity, and flavor.

Community in the market garden

Community

Agriculture as a social fabric – we share knowledge, responsibility, and joy in working together.
The garden is a place for learning and connection.
